Біографія

В юності захоплювався рок-музикою, через Френка Заппи відкрив Едгара Вареза, потім - Джона Кейджа, а ще пізніше - Мортона Фелдман. Закінчив Каліфорнійську художню школу. У 1975, працюючи в суспільствах з охорони навколишнього середовища, приїхав на Аляску, що стала для нього потім постійним джерелом творчості.

Характеристика творчості

Переживши і засвоївши досвід мінімалізму, зосередившись на проблемі статичного в музиці, Д. Л. А. розвиває медитативний музичну мову, пов'язаний з музичним втіленням місця, «звуковий географією» необжитих просторів, близьких до територій уяви і тому наповнених високим смислом, близьким до сакрального.
