• У 1872 року у Росії начальник управління у справах друку Михайло Лонгинов намагався заборонити видання праць Чарльза Дарвіна. У відповідь на це поет Олексій Костянтинович Толстой написав сатиричний «Послання до М. Н. Лонгинова про дарвінізм». У цьому «Посланні ...» були наступні рядки:

• В оповіданні Віктора Пєлєвіна «Походження видів» Чарльз Дарвін зображений в якості головного персонажа.

• У 2009 році вийшов біографічний фільм про Чарльза Дарвіна «Походження» британського режисера Джона Еміела.

• За даними опитування, проведеного в 2002 році мовної компанією Бі-бі-сі, зайняв четверте місце в списку ста найвизначніших британців в історії ..
