Пітер Сінгер: біографія

Біографія

Народився в Мельбурні в сім'ї євреїв з Відня, які виїхали з анексованої нацистами Австрії в 1938 році. Після закінчення школи вступив до Мельбурнський університет, де вивчав право, історію та філософію. У 1969 році отримав ступінь магістра за роботу під назвою «Навіщо мені бути моральним?» (Англ. «Why should I be moral?"). За стипендії продовжив навчання в Оксфордському університеті і в 1971 році отримав ступінь бакалавра філософії (англ. B. Phil.) За роботу про цивільну непокору.

Поза академічних кіл Сінгер найбільш відомий як автор книгиAnimal Liberation, що стала наріжним каменем руху за звільнення тварин.
